SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Writing That Breaks the Rules: 10 Craft “Laws” You Can Defy
DESCRIPTION:Every genre has its sacred rules. Learn what they actually protect — so you can break them with confidence.\n\n\n\nFor writers at all stages\, in all genresIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nEvery writer collects a list of commandments. Show\, don’t tell. Don’t start a scene with dialogue. One point-of-view per scene. Search and destroy all adverbs. Memoir must be told in the first person. These rules are repeated in workshops and webinars until we think they’re all true\, all the time\, but most of them are shorthand for a much more useful question: Am I making the best craft choices for readers to experience these words as I intend? \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, Allison K Williams (author of Seven Drafts and editor of NYT bestselling memoirs and novels) debunks the “rules” writers hear most often in workshops\, craft classes\, and query guidance and unpacks the real craft principle underneath each one. You’ll learn which rules are structural (break them\, and the story stops working) and which are stylistic conventions (break them deliberately\, and readers barely notice—or love you for it). We’ll use examples from published books that defy every dictum on this list and succeed anyway\, plus a clear-eyed look at when breaking a rule reads as “bold choice” versus “rookie mistake.” \n\n\n\nYou’ll leave knowing exactly which rules support the writing  you want to do—and which ones were never really rules at all. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nIDENTIFY the difference between structural craft principles and stylistic conventions\n\n\n\nLEARN why POV discipline\, tense consistency\, and dialogue-opening “rules” exist—and what actually breaks when you ignore them\n\n\n\nEXAMINE notable published novels\, essays and memoirs that violate these rules on purpose\, and why they work\n\n\n\nWALK AWAY with a framework for deciding\, scene by scene\, when a “rule” is serving your story and when it’s safe to ignore—or gleefully defy\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for writers at any level who… \n\n\n\n\nkeep getting the same craft note in workshop and want to understand why\, not just fix it\n\n\n\nhave gotten craft feedback that doesn’t resonate or feels just plain wrong\n\n\n\nare drafting memoir\, YA\, or genre fiction and want to know which conventions their category actually enforces (and what to do if you’re not going to play along)\n\n\n\nhave a bold structural choice in mind and want to pressure-test it before committing\n\n\n\nare tired of contradictory advice and want one clear-eyed pass through the “rules” that matter\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSharp\, funny\, and genuinely useful from the first five minutes\, Allison K Williams is the author of Seven Drafts: Self-Edit Like a Pro from First Draft to Book Deal and Managing Editor of the Brevity Blog. She teaches memoir and novel craft through Rebirth Your Writing\, leads retreats from Maine to Morocco to the middle of the Atlantic\, and has a well-earned reputation for advice that improves your pages the same day you hear it.  \n\n\n\nAllison holds an MFA from Western Michigan University\, and her own work has appeared in The New York Times\, McSweeney’s\, and Brevity (the magazine) as well as on NPR\, The Moth\, Snap Judgement\, and CBC-Canada. She is the co-producer of CRAFT TALKS and founder of The Writers Bridge. \n\n\n\nREFUNDS (less a $10 processing fee) ARE AVAILABLE before the replay is sent out. SUMMARY:SEMINAR | Beyond the Frame: How Surrealist Imagery Can Unblock Your Writing
DESCRIPTION:When words fail\, images can unlock secrets. Surprise the stuck places in your manuscript by looking at them anew. \n\n\n\nFor All Writers \n\n\n\nSometimes the most effective way through a writing challenge is without words.  \n\n\n\nIn both writing and visual art\, what’s beyond the page or the frame often holds the key. Finding that hidden context can help a lifeless scene find its heartbeat. Images\, photographs\, illustrations\, even collages\, can help us see our stories differently. Surrealist imagery is particularly effective because it’s already characterized by the juxtaposition of unexpected elements. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin with quick-start generative prompts to help you identify an area in your writing to focus on during our time together. Then\, we’ll look at traditional images and use them to help unlock a challenging place in your manuscript. Finally\, we’ll progress to surrealist photographs\, paintings\, and collages to see your own work and themes through fresh lenses.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll also discuss ways the qualities of surrealism can inform our writing\, regardless of genre\, and practice using “prepositional questions” to explore what’s beyond\, above\, below\, underneath\, inside\, before\, and after your scene to view your stuck place with curiosity and allow for unexpected connections. \n\n\n\nIf you’re currently struggling with an aspect of a work-in-progress\, feel free to bring that\, but it’s not required to benefit from the tools and techniques of the seminar. After the class\, you’ll receive the seminar recording and the slide deck with all the images and prompts used during our time together. \n\n\n\nAll levels and all genres are welcome. Please be prepared to write. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this interactive three-hour live seminar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nEXPLORE how visual imagery can deepen your writing\n\n\n\nLEARN key tenets of surrealism and apply them to a writing challenge\n\n\n\nGENERATE new portals into an existing piece of writing\n\n\n\nLEARN HOW unexpected visual arrangements open a door to the unconscious\n\n\n\nUSE key prepositional questions to view your writing differently\n\n\n\nSURPRISE yourself by finding hidden connections in your work\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course is ideal for writers who…\n\n\n\n\ncurious about new ways to deepen their writing\n\n\n\ninterested in the connection between visual and literary arts\n\n\n\nstruggling with a difficult part of their manuscript\n\n\n\nwho are open to unconventional portals to the imagination\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss class? No worries\, replays will be available 3 business days after the event. ✔ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFunny\, kind\, and direct\, Laraine Herring is a popular CRAFT TALKS presenter and one of our strongest voices on deeply personal writing that powerfully connects with readers. \n\n\n\nLaraine’s memoir\, A Constellation of Ghosts: A Speculative Memoir with Ravens\, was released in 2021 from Regal House. I had more than one breakthrough working with her. With ease and honesty\, she created an authentic\, interesting and inviting space to grow.” \n\n\n\n— Grace Welker \n\n\n\n“Laraine encourages students to dig deep. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Power Your Memoir with Mystery: How Curiosity Fuels Craft
DESCRIPTION:The fuel that runs the engine of all good writing is our uncertainty…and the true curiosity of the writer.\n\n\n\nFor memoir and nonfictionIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nToo often\, writers of true stories lock in early on what they know—times\, places\, apparent facts—and what results is a flat retelling of the past. But memoir is essentially an act of discovery. As writers\, we must enter our work filled with questions and true uncertainty\, or we risk pushing the story where we think it should go rather than where it needs to be. As acclaimed memoirist Abigail Thomas warns\, “If your memoir ends where you thought it was going to end\, you aren’t doing it right.”The engine of good writing is fueled by the curiosity of the writer\, the process of thinking aloud on the page\, and uncovering what we didn’t know the morning we sat down to begin our memoir or story.  \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we will look at how other writers have used their uncertainty as fuel for the story\, how to locate your own questions\, and how reconnecting with what you don’t know can revive a stalled project. There will also be prompts and time for questions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nSEE how questions within your process allow for discovery and surprise\n\n\n\nLEARN strategies for incorporating “what you don’t know” into nonfiction\n\n\n\nUNDERSTAND how questions and curiosity drive memoir\, nonfiction\, and even fiction\n\n\n\nENGAGE with a series of short prompts to find the questions in your own work \n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for writers who… \n\n\n\n\nat the beginning stages of a memoir or nonfiction project\n\n\n\nwho feel stalled on their current essay\, story or book\n\n\n\nwith a story they want to tell\, who feel unsure why readers will be interested enough to read it\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nPreviously offered August 2023 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of our most popular and beloved presenters\, DINTY W. SUMMARY:SEMINAR | Writing Big Feelings: The Peculiar Art of Evoking Emotions
DESCRIPTION:Grief on the page doesn’t guarantee grief in the reader. Learn to show how your character feels and make the reader feel it\, too.\n\n\n\nLive On Zoom | Saturdays\, September 5 & 12\, 2026 | 2-4 pm EasternFor Creative Nonfiction and Fiction Writers \n\n\n\nAs fiction and non-fiction writers\, we often want to evoke agony on the page—grief\, misery\, blinding fury. Yet we get feedback: “What is the narrator feeling?” \n\n\n\nOver two sessions\, we’ll examine how we\, as writers\, can do two separate things: \n\n\n\n\nEvoke emotions within the READER: sorrow\, compassion\, and empathy \n\n\n\nEffectively show how the point-of-view character/narrator is feeling\n\n\n\n\nThese two jobs are often conflated; people assume if they describe how a character is feeling\, readers will also feel those feelings. Alas\, it’s not that simple. \n\n\n\nWe’ll focus on why it’s not just important to render the feelings themselves and how we can’t intentionally manipulate the reader with forced or pushed emotions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this insightful two-day course\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nDISTINGUISH between evoking emotion in the reader and describing what a character feels—and learn why conflating the two weakens your work\n\n\n\nDIAGNOSE the “what is the narrator feeling?” note and understand what’s actually missing from the page\n\n\n\nPRACTICE techniques for rendering emotion through action\, image\, and subtext \n\n\n\nRECOGNIZE where emotional writing turns maudlin or overwrought—and how to pull back before you lose the reader\n\n\n\nAPPLY these techniques to a piece of your own work across two sessions\, with feedback for a selection of students on the second day\n\n\n\n\nSchedule…\n\n\n\nDay One—We start with the core distinction the whole workshop builds on: showing emotion versus evoking it. You’ll get a set of practical tips for writing feelings without naming them\, look at examples from published work\, and break into small groups to hunt for more on your own. Then a short in-class prompt—write an intense moment with the feelings stripped out—followed by open Q&A. \n\n\n\nHomework: Find two pages of your own work centered on a character or narrator feeling a big emotion. Revise so the emotion rises naturally from the material rather than being pushed onto the reader. (Extra credit for big feelings that never tip into maudlin!) \n\n\n\nSubmit 300–400 words of revised work as a Word document to the shared Google Drive by September 10th\, 11pm EDT (more details to come). \n\n\n\nDay Two—This session is yours. We’ll screen-share as many submissions as time allows\, read them aloud\, and workshop each one with about 10 minutes of group discussion. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis seminar is ideal for intermediate writers wrestling with intense material that can feel overwhelming.\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss class? No worries\, replays will be available 3 business days after the event. ✔ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR Instructor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDirect\, funny\, and unsentimental\, Peter Mountford is a warm and encouraging teacher. He’s the author of the novels A Young Man’s Guide to Late Capitalism (Washington State Book Award)\, The Dismal Science (NYT editor’s choice)\, and his latest\, a collection of short stories\, Detonator (now out from Four Way Books). His work has appeared in the New York Times (Modern Love)\, Paris Review\, Southern Review\, The Atlantic\, The Sun\, Ploughshares\, and Guernica. He teaches at the University of Nevada\, Reno at Lake Tahoe’s MFA\, and through Mountford Writing. \n\n\n\nStudent Testimonials \n\n\n\n“I’m so grateful to Peter—he’s that perfect combination of sweet and sour\, candid but never cruel\, encouraging but never ever full of shit.” – Sharon Schindel (NYT\, Washington Post) \n\n\n\n“Peter has an unerring sense of a story’s center of gravity and the structure that best suits the material. SUMMARY:SEMINAR | Sharpen Your Prose: How to Be Your Own Editor
DESCRIPTION:Writers don’t always have the luxury of a great editor. But we can teach ourselves to examine our own prose through an editor’s lens.\n\n\n\nLive on Zoom | Saturday & Sunday\, September 19-20\, 2026 | 2-3:30pm EDTFor Creative Nonfiction and Fiction Writers \n\n\n\nFor successful authors\, “all writing is rewriting.” Most of the best work we’ll ever do happens not in first drafts but through the painstaking process of revision. But what exactly is revision? How do we approach what can feel like an intimidating and endless process? How can we truly make our drafts better (and not just different)? And where do we turn for feedback when we’re writing on our own? \n\n\n\nRather than focusing on big-picture or developmental editing\, this class will focus on line-level techniques that reliably improve any piece of writing. We’ll discuss what makes individual sentences more impactful\, how to trim bloated paragraphs\, and the keys to maintaining a sense of immediacy that holds readers’ attention. Together\, we’ll study examples of both first-draft writing and polished\, published pieces\, naming the differences and working out how to move from point A to point B. We’ll learn how to create our own feedback\, moving from “author” to “editor” and back again. \n\n\n\nBy studying the work of others\, we’ll begin seeing our own writing more objectively. After our first class\, each participant will work on revising their own sentences\, practicing new techniques. By the end of our second class\, students will have acquired a set of revision practices that can be applied to any work-in-progress.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this insightful weekend course\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nLEARN techniques to view your writing more objectively\n\n\n\nREAD examples of sharp prose and consider how they were revised\n\n\n\nPRACTICE revising your own work\n\n\n\nDISCOVER a set of revision practices you can apply to any work-in-progress\n\n\n\n\nSchedule…\n\n\n\nSaturday—We’ll start with the core skill of condensing prose: mediating language\, shaping a true scene\, and revising toward stronger verbs. You’ll read past student work and discuss how to tighten it\, then turn to examples of sharp professional prose to see these techniques in action. \n\n\n\nAs a group\, we’ll build a working list of line-level revision techniques you can apply to your own writing. \n\n\n\nHomework: Revise an excerpt of your own work using the techniques from class. \n\n\n\nSunday—We’ll share revisions with the group and discuss what’s working and what could go further. You’ll gain new insight into your own editing by seeing others in action.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis seminar is ideal for writers who…\n\n\n\n\ncan crank out a first draft but don’t know how to revise\n\n\n\nare working on their own without consistent feedback\n\n\n\nworry their sentences or page count may be bloated\n\n\n\nwant to learn to think like an editor\n\n\n\nwant to write sharper\, tighter prose to capture the attention of readers\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss class? SUMMARY:The Writers Bridge | Writing Off-Limits: How Comedy Creates Powerful Work in Every Genre with Elissa Bassist
DESCRIPTION:Do you have to be born funny to write funny?\n\n\n\nMost writers assume humor is a gift some people have and others don’t—and that it only belongs in comedy. But funny writing isn’t joke after joke after joke. It’s being vulnerable\, opinionated\, emotional\, and a little silly\, whether you’re writing a personal essay\, a novel\, or a query letter. \n\n\n\nHumor is a craft—and it’s built the same way any other kind of good writing is: through observation\, specificity\, honesty\, and revision. And good humor leavens the darkest personal essay\, sustains reader compassion in a memoir\, and makes novels sparkle on the page. \n\n\n\nElissa Bassist—author of the memoir Hysterical\, created and edited The Rumpus’s “Funny Women” column\, and has been a humor-writing teacher for two decades. She joins The Writers Bridge to talk about why infusing humor into your writing—even writing that isn’t “comedy”—makes it sharper\, more honest\, and more memorable. Elissa will share no-fail ways to make anything you write funnier (and just plain better)\, and how to find the joke in any topic\, including the ones that feel too boring or too off-limits to touch. \n\n\n\nJoin us TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29 at 1PM EASTERN / 10AM PACIFIC – live and FREE on Zoom\, all welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur special guest \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElissa Bassist is the author of the memoir Hysterical\, a semifinalist for The Thurber Prize for American Humor. \n\n\n\nRoxane Gay called Hysterical “one of the most intelligent\, painful\, ridiculous\, awesome\, relevant things I’ve ever read\,” and Cheryl Strayed wrote that Bassist “wrote it like a motherfucker.” The memoir also earned a starred review from Library Journal and praise from Kirkus and Booklist for its fierce\, funny take on chronic pain\, medicine\, and the silencing of women’s voices. \n\n\n\nElissa has worked in media and publishing since 2007—as an editor\, a managing editor\, a TV and film writer’s assistant\, a producer\, a performer\, a speaker\, and a barista. Her writing has appeared in over 30 publications and anthologies\, and she’s taught for more than 20 writing programs\, including The New School\, 92NY\, and Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Her next book\, Inside Jokes: A Comedy and Creativity Guide for All Writers (co-written with Caitlin Kunkel)\, is out October 20th from Grand Central Publishing—a step-by-step guide to writing anything funnier\, from short humor to personal essays. \n\n\n\nJoin your hosts Allison K Williams (SEVEN DRAFTS)\, Sharla Yates (CRAFT TALKS) and our special guest for a genuinely funny\, genuinely useful hour on writing with more humor—no matter what genre you write. \n\n\n\nFREE\, all welcome! SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Getting Past "I": The Challenge of Writing in First-Person POV
DESCRIPTION:Writing a compelling first-person narrator in your novel or memoir is far more challenging than it seems. Learn to recognize and avoid the pitfalls of your Point of View.\n\n\n\nFor All GenresIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nWriting in first-person seems easy at first. After all\, how hard can it be to get inside just one character’s head and stay there? But from a craft perspective\, writing in first-person is a potential minefield. Building an interesting and dynamic world full of believable characters can be a craft challenge when the reader only sees that world through one set of eyes.  \n\n\n\nCommon first-person pitfalls involve an over-reliance on telling rather than showing; not using inner dialogue strategically to build conflict and tension; and accidentally switching out of first-person\, which can confuse the reader.  \n\n\n\nYet the first-person perspective is an exciting opportunity to explore your protagonist’s deepest secrets—whether a fictional character or from your own perspective—and drives and develops a sympathetic bond with the reader as they get to know your character from the inside.  \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we’ll examine what can go wrong and explore great examples of first-person done well. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nDETERMINE the right Point of View for your story and genre\n\n\n\nLEARN HOW first-person works differently from other POVs\n\n\n\nANALYZE examples of first-person pitfalls\n\n\n\nIDENTIFY hallmarks of great first-person POV writing\n\n\n\nEXPLORE practical techniques to vary your writing style within a single narrator\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for beginning and intermediate writers…\n\n\n\n\nwriting a novel\, memoir\, or personal essay in first person who want to strengthen their craft\n\n\n\nworried their narrator sounds flat\, limited\, or overly self-focused\n\n\n\nstruggling with showing rather than telling from a single perspective\n\n\n\nwho want to build a rich\, believable world through one character’s eyes\n\n\n\nunsure whether first-person is the right POV choice for their story\n\n\n\nwho find themselves accidentally slipping out of first person mid-scene\n\n\n\nwho need models of first-person done exceptionally well\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmy L. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Short Forms: Flash Fiction and Micro Memoir
DESCRIPTION:Create unforgettable stories in just one page—or less.\n\n\n\nFor Memoir\, Fiction\, and NonfictionIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nShort forms are the best training ground for learning how stories really work. Micro memoir and flash fiction sharpen every essential craft skill—precision\, structure\, and impact—in the smallest possible space. Their brevity invites experimentation\, but their simplicity can be deceptive: the most successful short works achieve the same depth\, resonance\, and emotional force of much longer pieces.  \n\n\n\nThrough close readings and craft analysis\, participants will examine a range of outstanding examples and discover the techniques that make short-form writing so delicious and so powerful. Explore how writers use compression\, implication\, and language to create memorable stories in remarkably small spaces and how they create narrative momentum\, develop character\, manage time\, and deliver satisfying endings.  \n\n\n\nWhether you’re writing micro memoir or flash fiction or want to apply these techniques to longer works\, this session will illuminate the craft principles that allow a few carefully chosen words to carry extraordinary weight. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nIDENTIFY essential characteristics of successful micro memoirs and flash fiction\n\n\n\nEXAMINE how compression\, selection\, and omission create emotional and narrative power\n\n\n\nANALYZE exemplary short-form works to understand the craft decisions behind their impact\n\n\n\nEXPLORE strategies for building character\, tension\, and narrative movement in limited space\n\n\n\nLEARN how openings\, endings\, and structural turns function differently in compressed forms\n\n\n\nGAIN a deeper understanding of how short forms can serve as your training ground\, sharpen your prose\, and strengthen larger writing projects\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is best for writers at all levels who…\n\n\n\n\nare actively drafting or revising work for workshop\, submission\, or publication\n\n\n\nwant greater control over structure\, voice\, and narrative impact at the sentence and scene level\n\n\n\nare curious about—or already working in—compressed forms\n\n\n\nfeel their stories are too diffuse or overextended and want strategies for tightening and intensifying\n\n\n\nwant to understand how accomplished short-form writers achieve depth\, resonance\, and emotional force \n\n\n\nwant to study storytelling at its most distilled and precise\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Heather Sellers has been teaching for over thirty years\, and she doesn’t teach like anyone else. SUMMARY:SEMINAR | Beyond the Book: Writing Companion Essays that Reach New Readers
DESCRIPTION:Your book contains more stories than the ones on its pages. Learn how to write and publish companion essays that draw readers to your work.\n\n\n\nFor fiction\, nonfiction\, and poetry alike—companion essays cross genres.Companion essays are written by an author before\, during\, and after a book is launched to create awareness of both the writer and the book. These essays showcase the writer’s voice\, storytelling\, and craft\, leaving readers wanting to read more and buy the book. The form is essay\, but this type of writing is valuable to writers across genres: creative nonfiction\, fiction\, and poetry. \n\n\n\nAlso called book-adjacent writing\, companion essays can address a wide range of topics: the book’s themes and craft; historical or cultural context; reflections\, research\, and ideas that extend beyond the book; or experiences from the writer’s life. These essays aren’t excerpts\, summaries\, reviews\, ads\, reading guides\, or a justification for the book. Companion essays are powerful in themselves—informative\, entertaining\, and surprising—and connect the reader to the author and book in unique ways. \n\n\n\nPublishers\, publicists\, and agents encourage (and expect) writers to write and publish companion pieces to support marketing and promotion\, build readership\, and expand the author’s platform. Whether your book is completed\, accepted\, or a work-in-progress\, the best time to begin thinking about and drafting these essays is early in the writing process.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll look at published examples to see what makes a successful companion essay. You’ll develop strategies for generating your own companion essay ideas\, and we’ll discuss where these essays can be pitched and published and the how-to’s of the submission process. Participants will receive the presentation slides with links to each essay and outlet discussed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this insightful 2.5-hour course\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nEXPLORE what makes a compelling companion essay and how it connects to a book without summarizing or promoting\n\n\n\nGENERATE companion essay ideas drawn from your book\, collection\, or work-in-progress\n\n\n\nLEARN HOW companion essays use topic\, structure\, voice\, and purpose to reach readers\n\n\n\nDISCOVER publications that publish companion essays\, and DEVELOP a strategy for pitching and publishing companion essays\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis seminar is ideal for writers who…\n\n\n\n\nwant an effective way to connect readers to their new book\, collection\, or work-in-progress \n\n\n\nwant to increase their visibility and build their platform\n\n\n\nhave a book or collection at any stage of development \n\n\n\nwant to learn how to write and publish compelling companion essays\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss class? SUMMARY:The Writers Bridge | Your Ideal Readers with Jessica Berg
DESCRIPTION:“Everyone will love this book” is not a marketing plan.\n\n\n\nAgents ask who your book is for. So do editors\, publicists and the algorithms behind every online bookstore. “Readers who love great stories” isn’t enough. \n\n\n\nYour ideal reader isn’t a guess or a demographic box you tick on a form. It’s a specific person with a specific inner life: what they worry about\, what they wish someone would say out loud\, which books are already on their nightstand\, and where they spend their time online. Once you know that person\, it gets easier to write your query letter\, pick your comp titles\, decide which platform to show up on first and choose your book’s keywords. \n\n\n\nIn this special work-along session\, we talk with literary agent Jessica Berg about how professionals actually do reader research and the resources you need. \n\n\n\n\nRead comp-title reviews like data\, finding what reviewers reveal about themselves\, not just about the book\n\n\n\nListen in where your readers gather\, on Reddit\, in Facebook groups and on Goodreads shelves\, and turn their language into your pitch\n\n\n\nTell “also shelved with” from true query comps\, and why you need both\n\n\n\nFind the gap in your category that your book fills\, stated in a sentence an agent will believe\n\n\n\nTurn reader research into a primary benefit\, an emotional promise and purchase triggers you can use in your query\, jacket copy and marketing\n\n\n\n\nEveryone who registers gets our free DIY Ideal Reader Research Guide\, a section-by-section walkthrough of the same research\, with the tools and sources for each step. Fair warning: done thoroughly by hand\, it’s a 44–70 hour project. But we’ll also show you how our Ideal Reader Analyzer can build the same persona\, comp list and marketing roadmap in about two minutes\, for writers who’d rather spend those hours writing–and give you a huge discount to try it out. \n\n\n\nJoin us TUESDAY October 27 at 1PM EASTERN / 10AM PACIFIC – live and FREE on Zoom\, all welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur special guest \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJessica Berg is a literary agent\, author\, and the founder of Rosecliff Literary. She loves stories that explore grief\, longing\, ambition\, and survival and the complicated ways they intersect. \n\n\n\nShe earned her MFA from Spalding University and contributes regularly to Writer’s Digest. Jessica serves on the boards of the Women’s National Book Association and the Historical Novel Society\, and teaches nationally on querying\, comp titles\, and the business of authorship\, with a focus on building sustainable\, long-term writing careers. Her client list includes Vincent Zandri\, Lisa Roe\, Arizona Bell\, and others.. \n\n\n\nJoin your hosts Allison K Williams (SEVEN DRAFTS)\, Sharla Yates (CRAFT TALKS) and our special guest for a head start on your proposal\, your launch and your marketing plans. \n\n\n\nFREE\, all welcome! SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Write Beyond Yourself: Research\, Reporting\, and the Art of Narrative Nonfiction
DESCRIPTION:Some stories demand more than what we already know: interviews\, research\, quotations\, and reportage. Learn the skill of turning facts into scenes with inspiration and truth.\n\n\n\nFor Creative Nonfiction\, Narrative Nonfiction\, and MemoirIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nWe are often told to ‘write what we know.’ But what if the story we’re telling\, whatever our own role in it\, requires us to seek out information\, perspectives\, and knowledge beyond our own experience? Even as we write beyond ourselves\, the question at the heart of the book or essay must drive our inquiry. Why we are telling this story in turn dictates how that story unfolds and is structured and told. \n\n\n\nLearn narrative nonfiction writer Michael Copperman’s best techniques for conducting and writing interviews\, researching\, exploring archives and analyzing keepsakes\, quoting from other first sources\, and reportage. Through examples of transforming source material into recreated and imagined scenes and text\, you’ll discover the combination of skill\, patience\, and inspiration that powers successful narrative nonfiction. \n\n\n\nProceeds for this course support Short Reads\, the free\, flash-nonfiction literary magazine\, and the writers they publish. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Exploring the Happy Accident: Crafting Draft Discoveries into Exquisite Nonfiction
DESCRIPTION:Learn to cultivate a writing process that provides fertile ground for unexpected discoveries and how to make the most of moments when you’re surprised by your own writing.\n\n\n\nFor creative nonfiction\, nonfiction\, and all writers eager to find more spontaneity in their processIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nSometimes the exact thing your writing needs is the thing you least expect: the subject you weren’t meaning to consider\, the turn of phrase you didn’t know you had in you\, or the connections you never realized you could make. These “Lucky Drafts” are happy accidents\, turning serendipity\, coincidence\, and unwitting juxtaposition into exquisite nonfiction. And often\, these drafts surprise us with their flow and power\, transcending the labor of writing to reach our strongest authorial voice.  \n\n\n\nI never meant to be an essayist. The first long-form piece of creative nonfiction I ever wrote was meant to be an 800-word contribution to a roundtable on race and poetry. It turned into a 9000-word essay that went explosively viral upon publication. Nearly every essay I’ve published since has similarly arrived while I was writing something else entirely. This is true of many of my poems\, too.  \n\n\n\nOther writers across genres—poets\, novelists\, and essayists—have shared with me their own adventures in happy accidents\, to borrow a phrase from legendary painter and PBS fixture Bob Ross\, and how inadvertent nonfiction can become the best essays we never meant to write. \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we’ll consider why and how the inadvertent can so often be so much more interesting and satisfying than the thing we were meaning to write. We’ll discuss strategies for cultivating and embracing happy accidents and learn to create the circumstances (and welcome the surprises!) to generate exciting new work that surpasses our own expectations for our writing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nDISCOVER examples of accidental turns in essay writing\n\n\n\nEXPLORE how and why the unintentional can result in potent and memorable writing\n\n\n\nLEARN how to embrace the unexpected and let it lead us to fresh and exciting new essays\n\n\n\nRELEASE over-control of your writing to allow yourself to surprise yourself\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for writers who…\n\n\n\n\nfeel stuck or blocked\n\n\n\nare writing a ton but publishing less than they hope to\n\n\n\nseek to differentiate their work from everyone else’s in an oversaturated media moment\n\n\n\nare waiting for their writing to “flow” instead of pushing\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA personable and lively teacher\, Jaswinder Bolina’s superpower is translating complicated ideas into plain English. His conversational\, humorous sessions are transformative for students’ work. Noted for being analytical yet highly approachable\, Jaswinder’s most recent book English as a Second Language and Other Poems (2023) was awarded the 2025 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award from Claremont Graduate University. He is author of three previous poetry collections\, The 44th of July (2019)\, Phantom Camera (2013)\, and Carrier Wave (2007)\, and of the essay collection Of Color (2020).REFUNDS (less a $10 processing fee) ARE AVAILABLE before the replay is sent out. As a fiction writer venturing into nonfiction\, I needed a lot of guidance\, and I got it. Chelsea’s lessons and feedback  were immensely helpful to me. An essay I began in that class was later accepted by a well known online magazine. I still go back to the material Chelsea provided as support when starting new projects. I can wholeheartedly recommend Chelsea as a mentor and teacher. ” ~ L Doyle \n\n\n\n“I took Chelsea’s intensive flash nonfiction class and was deeply impressed by her commitment\, feedback\, and warm teaching style. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Time Traveler: How to Manipulate Time on the Page
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the chronology of a story\, we can speed up and slow down time within scenes\, immersing the reader more fully in the moment. Explore four kinds of time in this write-along webinar. \n\n\n\nFor creative nonfiction\, nonfiction\, and fictionIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nTime on the page creates tension\, amplifies emotion\, and controls the pace of the story. This can be the time it takes characters or the narrator to move across a room\, a montage of the past or flashbacks within the present scene\, and the time created by different verb tenses and points of view.  \n\n\n\nWriters most often work with four types of time:  \n\n\n\n\nLinear/logical time that sustains plot and point of view\n\n\n\nThe Continuous Present\, which brings immediacy to the page and can support multiple or collective points of view\n\n\n\nLong Time\, with which we can depict extraordinary amounts of time passing in a flash piece and show how the deep past informs the present and the future\n\n\n\nMeticulous Time\, when the time within the story is actually shorter than the amount of time it takes to read it. By slowing time and examining smaller details and moments\, greater emotion is created on the page or the reader’s focus is controlled. \n\n\n\n\nWith examples and instructions\, explore the fascinating craft of creating\, expanding\, and contracting time by rewriting a single scene in each of the four times. You’ll finish our action-packed hour with a deeper understanding of how time elapses within scenes and flash pieces and a stronger understanding of when and why to use each type of time.  \n\n\n\nThis webinar will also help you find a well of creativity and freedom to draw from in connection to how you replicate time on the page. \n\n\n\nCome ready to write! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nLEARN about four different types of time to use in creative writing\n\n\n\nHEAR examples that illuminate the advantages of using different time elements\n\n\n\nEXPLORE how time is its own craft element\, helping writers guide their readers through plot\n\n\n\nWRITE in four kinds of time to truly understand this craft technique\n\n\n\nKNOW how\, when\, and why to expand and contract time in your work\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for …\n\n\n\n\nintermediate and advanced fiction and nonfiction writers who are obsessed with time—how it moves\, bends\, and plays tricks on the page\n\n\n\nwriters looking to explore fresh aspects of craft and push past familiar techniques\n\n\n\nwriters whose scenes feel flat or rushed and want to learn how to stretch a moment until it earns its weight\n\n\n\nwriters struggling with pacing—either everything moves too fast\, or nothing moves at all\n\n\n\nwriters who want their prose to mirror the way memory\, boredom\, or deep focus actually feel\, instead of defaulting to straightforward chronology\n\n\n\nwriters ready to experiment with structure and are looking for a framework to do it with intention\, not just instinct\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn informal-but-informed teacher focused on actionable results\, Sherrie Flick is the author of six books\, including the short story collection I Have Not Considered Consequences (Autumn House Press\, 2025). SUMMARY:3-WEEK WORKSHOP | Build Your Bold Creative Practice: For Writers to Jump-start\, Reset\, and Connect
DESCRIPTION:Creativity is a practice that requires showing up. Get the support and guidance you need to take risks and build a bold writing practice.\n\n\n\nOpen to 25 writers | 2 need-based scholarships are available—please email info@writingcraft.com to inquire before purchasing. \n\n\n\nLive On Zoom | Every other Sunday\, November 15–December 13\, 12–1:30pm EST \n\n\n\nDo you remember what brought you to writing? Have you lost your momentum and curiosity along the way? Writing is hard and life is full of (important!) interruptions\, but with real structure and a cohort that has your back\, you can return to your writing practice with courage and honesty. \n\n\n\nIn Art and Fear\, David Bayles and Ted Orland write about the fears that keep us from making work at all\, and in The Artist’s Way\, Julia Cameron insists that creativity is not a rare gift but a practice—one that requires showing up\, again and again\, especially when it’s uncomfortable. This course draws from both\, alongside additional interviews\, videos\, and texts\, to guide us in building a sustainable creative practice. \n\n\n\nThis is not a craft lecture series. Instead\, the course is designed to give you space for introspection and artistic risk-taking. To allow you to commit—to yourself and to the group—to showing up at the page and to build the muscle that makes showing up possible long after the class ends.  \n\n\n\nEach session\, you’ll commit to one artistic exercise to bring back and share at our next meeting. You’ll take yourself on weekly artist dates. You’ll journal daily. You’ll be asked to stretch and take risks with a cohort who will quickly become your writing community.  \n\n\n\nBetween our three main sessions\, you’ll also have an optional co-writing hour\, where we’ll put the week’s exercises into practice together\, in real time. You’ll also have access to a private online forum to check in\, connect\, and share with your cohort. \n\n\n\nThis is the first time this particular group will be doing this particular thing. Much of what we build here\, we’ll be building together for the first time.  \n\n\n\nIf that excites you more than it scares you (or if it scares you exactly the right amount)\, join us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\nSession 1 (Nov 15)—Where have you been? Why are you here? Where are you going? We start by taking stock: what’s brought you to this practice\, what’s gotten in the way\, and what you’re actually hoping to build. Expect honest reflection and the first artistic commitment of the course. \n\n\n\nCo-Writing Hour (Nov 22): 12-1 pm EST  \n\n\n\nSession 2 (Nov 29) — Working in Uncertainty. The messy middle. With two weeks between sessions to actively pursue the finicky muse\, we’ll sit with not-knowing\, explore what it means to make work without a guaranteed outcome\, and share the exercises from Session 1. \n\n\n\nCo-Writing Hour (Dec 6): 12-1 pm EST \n\n\n\nSession 3 (Dec 13) — Making Plans and Promises. The last week includes a culminating discussion. We close by naming what we want to carry forward—concrete commitments to our own practice—and share the final round of work. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, you will …\n\n\n\n\nRECONNECT with why you create and identify what’s been getting in the way\n\n\n\nBUILD a sustainable\, repeatable creative practice\n\n\n\nCOMPLETE exercises to discover surprise and new avenues \n\n\n\nCOMMIT to yourself and your work\n\n\n\nPRACTICE sharing unfinished\, risky\, or vulnerable work in a small\, trusted group\n\n\n\nSIT with uncertainty instead of rushing past it\n\n\n\nLEAVE with concrete plans and promises for your ongoing practice\n\n\n\n\nThis course is for writers …\n\n\n\n\nwant to jump-start a creative practice that’s stalled or start a conscious practice for the first time\n\n\n\nare willing to stretch and take risks\n\n\n\nare ready to commit to weekly accountability\n\n\n\nwant a variety of exercises and approaches to draw from\n\n\n\ndesire a community and mutual accountability over solitary practice\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss a class? No worries\, replays will be available. ✔ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith over 20 years of teaching and writing experience\, Sharla Yates is devoted to helping people recognize that their creative pursuits matter—more than that—are vital. She teaches creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh. \n\n\n\nTestimonials From Past Students\n\n\n\n“Sharla has a clear passion for what she teaches!”  \n\n\n\n“I really enjoyed Yates’ class. She did a good job at channeling your inner ‘creative process.’ Def recommend!!!” \n\n\n\n“I like the variety of exercises we were assigned that let us try different forms of writing.”“She did a great job organizing specific workshops and readings to make sure that we knew what we were working on and how to accomplish what we wanted out of the project.” \n\n\n\n“I grew not only as a writer but also generally as a creative. I was a big fan of the journal and journal prompts.” \n\n\n\nTHE FINE PRINT \n\n\n\nWe understand that life can get in the way of your plans. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Why Does Your Memoir Matter? Finding the Heart of Your Story to Connect with Readers
DESCRIPTION:Your memoir is not what happened to you—it’s why it mattered. Memoirs that sell connect a single focus from your story with readers. \n\n\n\nFor memoiristsIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nOne of the most challenging things for memoirists to do is find the singular story out of a lifetime of stories they’re telling in their memoir. A memoir is a single lens on an aspect of a life—not an entire biography\, and memoirists must learn to distill their work. The events they choose to dramatize must be those most relevant to the internal growth trajectory of the narrator. In other words\, they must learn to ask “who cares?” ruthlessly about key events in their lives. Not a task for the faint of heart!  \n\n\n\nIn this interactive webinar\, we’ll explore powerful questions to help you find the heart of your memoir. If you aren’t sure yet what your story is\, these questions can help you understand what’s missing! We will also look at the concept of a misbelief and learn how tracking a character’s misbelief leads us to the memoir’s theme and point. Whether you’re just starting your memoir\, already have several drafts\, are struggling with a proposal or are getting rejections for “I didn’t connect” or “I don’t know who the audience is\,” these exercises will strengthen your understanding of your work. \n\n\n\nPlease bring writing materials and be prepared to write! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nEXPLORE examples of memoir “points”\n\n\n\nUNDERSTAND the difference between plot and story (what and why)\n\n\n\nLEARN how point and theme are connected\n\n\n\nIDENTIFY the scene that their memoir requires in order to exist\n\n\n\nPRACTICE finding the heart of their memoir\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for intermediate and advanced memorists…\n\n\n\n\nwho are struggling to complete a memoir draft\n\n\n\nwho can’t see the forest for the trees in their story\n\n\n\nseeking clarity on their memoir’s focus\n\n\n\nwho are writing book proposals and stuck on the overview or the audience\n\n\n\ncurious about how their narrative connects with a larger audience\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFunny\, kind\, and direct\, Laraine Herring is a popular CRAFT TALKS presenter and one of our strongest voices on deeply personal writing that powerfully connects with readers. \n\n\n\nLaraine’s memoir\, A Constellation of Ghosts: A Speculative Memoir with Ravens\, was released in 2021 from Regal House. She’s the editor of the anthology Becoming Real: Women Reclaim the Power of the Imagined through Speculative Nonfiction (Pact Press\, 2024) and a trilogy of writing books from Shambhala\, including Writing Begins with the Breath: Embodying Your Authentic Voice. A retired professor of creative writing and psychology\, Lariane has worked with writers for thirty years.  \n\n\n\nShe’s also an illustrator and a grief counselor and creator of The Grief Forest: a book about what we don’t talk about. SUMMARY:SEMINAR | Essential Structures: Building Successful Fiction and Memoir
DESCRIPTION:An intensive three-hour seminar exploring the hidden architectures that make stories compelling\, memorable\, and emotionally effective. \n\n\n\nFor Memoir and Fiction \n\n\n\nLive on Zoom | Saturday\, November 28 | 2-5 pm Eastern \n\n\n\nDiscover a range of narrative structures used in contemporary fiction and memoir\, including three-act design\, lyric and fragmented forms\, braided narratives\, epistolary structures\, frames\, and modular storytelling. Rather than treating structure as a formula\, we’ll examine how writers shape reader attention\, tension\, revelation\, and emotional momentum via crucial structural decisions. \n\n\n\nExamine key structural principles to determine whether a manuscript succeeds or stalls. We’ll discuss the difference between what writers want to communicate and what readers actually want to experience\, what “showing” truly means on the sentence and scene level\, and the most common pitfalls that weaken fiction and memoir projects.  \n\n\n\nIn this seminar\, you’ll gain a solid sense of the basic principles for constructing your own fiction or memoir narratives that are vivid\, dynamic\, engaging\, original\, and structurally sound. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this three-hour seminar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nDISCOVER the range of narrative frameworks that turn ideas and material into compelling stories\n\n\n\nLEARN TO CLOSE READ for the architecture behind stories that resonate and endure: Journey\, Mystery\, Braid\, Mosaic\n\n\n\nMATCH the essential shape your particular story needs with the proven structural template that best supports your material\n\n\n\nTRANSFORM your initial inspiration into reader-friendly\, memorable\, complete narratives\n\n\n\nEXAMINE hidden mechanics of withholding\, pace\, and revelation.\n\n\n\nTRACE and strengthen the A-to-B change trajectory that gives stories both momentum and meaning.\n\n\n\nREPLACE simplistic “show\, don’t tell” advice with a more powerful understanding of how narrative information and story momentum actually work for readers.\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re getting ready to write your first memoir or in the midst of revising your fifth novel\, you’ll find a place in this course. The common denominator is not experience level but commitment: participants should be actively working on a project or wanting to do so and ready to engage deeply with questions of structure. \n\n\n\nThis course is ideal for ambitious beginners to seasoned writers …\n\n\n\n\nwho want their fiction or memoir to find—and move—readers \n\n\n\nwith an idea (or 2 or 3) for a story or book project—but who are struggling to get the project off the ground\n\n\n\nwhose project is up and running\, but it has been difficult to bring to completion\n\n\n\nwho have a project in mind or in the works and who have taken at least a few writing classes or seminars\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔Think you might miss a class? SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Fix It\, Make It Better: The Fine Art of Revising Memoir
DESCRIPTION:Revision\, some say\, is the hardest part of writing\, but this stage can also be the most rewarding and pleasurable.\n\n\n\nFor Memoir and Nonfiction ProseIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nCapturing our memories—vividly\, thoroughly\, and carried along by palpable emotion—takes skill and concerted effort. But the task of writing compelling memoir doesn’t end there. Once we’ve given the story our best shot\, once we’ve powered our way through an early draft or two\, how do we take what we’ve created and use the powerful tools of revision to make the memoir shine? \n\n\n\nContrary to common wisdom\, this is one task where it’s often not productive to start at the beginning. A story has multiple moving parts—sentences\, paragraphs\, chapters\, the beginning\, and the end. Successful revision happens when we learn to step back from our writing\, making deliberate choices about when to intervene\, where to intervene\, and what changes will work best. \n\n\n\nThe key to effective revision—whether you’re writing a memoir or a six-page personal essay—is understanding that revision can take multiple approaches. Learn how to weigh those choices with intention\, and walk away with tools you can apply to any project\, in any genre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nLEARN how to enjoy revision\, looking forward to it with anticipation\n\n\n\nDISCERN which revision approach works best at what stage of the writing\n\n\n\nOVERTURN that nagging feeling that you have been “revising forever”\n\n\n\nFIND the best ways to establish what should be included in the memoir and what should be left out\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for writers at any level\, at any stage who…\n\n\n\n\nare uncertain how to effectively improve early drafts\n\n\n\nworry they spend too much time polishing and re-polishing sentences\n\n\n\nfind revision unpleasant or worrisome\n\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of our most popular and beloved presenters\, DINTY W. SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Sentencing: Power\, Precision\, and Purpose in Every Line
DESCRIPTION:Break out of your habitual syntax\, and harness the energy in the smallest\, most important narrative unit.\n\n\n\nFor Memoir and Nonfiction ProseIncluded in the Season Pass \n\n\n\nWriting lives or dies at the sentence level. So what makes a sentence work? Learn the nuances of sentence craft and make sure every line carries its weight. \n\n\n\nThe sentence is the essential building block of any piece of writing—and it must do multiple kinds of work at once: convey meaning\, generate emotion\, and sustain momentum. Yet many writers underestimate how much power resides at this level and how deliberately sentences must be shaped to carry that weight. This isn’t about grammar or a particular “literary voice\,” but about understanding the mechanics of sentence craft to carry out your true\, distinct voice while delivering a powerful story. \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we take a focused look at the art of the sentence. You will learn to shape sentences that create authority\, distinctiveness\, and voice; build fresh new patterns that sustain reader interest from line to line; and diagnose the hidden strengths and weaknesses in your own sentence-level habits. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, you will:\n\n\n\n\nIDENTIFY the sentence habits that limit a manuscript’s effectiveness \n\n\n\nAPPLY three key sentence techniques—compression\, expansion\, and rhythm control—to create more compelling prose\n\n\n\nBUILD special sentence-level craft skills\, including strategic withholding\, revelation\, and syntactic variation\n\n\n\nLEARN how to revise ordinary sentences into memorable\, voice-driven lines that carry greater emotional and narrative impact AND\n\n\n\nDESIGN purposeful sequences of sentences that generate momentum\, surprise\, and flow on the page\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is ideal for beginning writers or seasoned pros in need of a tune-up.\n\n\n\nClosed captioning is available. ✔All registrants receive the recording. ✔ \n\n\n\nABOUT YOUR PRESENTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Heather Sellers has been teaching for over thirty years\, and she doesn’t teach like anyone else.
