ABOUT YOUR PRESENTER

DARIEN HSU GEE is the author of five novels published by Penguin Random House that have been translated into eleven languages. She recently served as Executive Editor for Nonwhite and Woman: 131 Micro Essays on Being in the World, which won the 2023 Silver IPPY award for Multicultural Nonfiction. Her collection of micro essays, Allegiance, won the 2021 Bronze IPPY award in the Essays category. Other awards include a 2019 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship award for Other Small Histories and the 2015 Hawai’i Book Publishers’ Ka Palapala Po’okela Award of Excellence for her craft book, Writing the Hawai’i Memoir. Darien is the recipient of a Sustainable Arts Foundation grant and a Vermont Studio Center fellowship. She teaches at Writer-ish.com (home of Micro Mondays and the Micro Memoir Workshop), as well as Hugo House and UCLA Extension.
