Writing with Consistency and Courage: Overcome Resistance & Strengthen Your Writing Practice

January 27 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST

$135

LIVE ON ZOOM | Part of our new series of longer writing workshops for in-depth learning and moments of creation within the class.

Feeling stuck or uninspired? Discover practical techniques for overcoming resistance and tapping creativity in this interactive workshop for all genres.

Success in writing—whether starting your story that longs to be written, joyfully adding pages, being surprised by the muse’s gifts, or publishing your masterpiece—isn’t determined only by talent, connections, or even craft. Success depends on consistency and courage. These qualities aren’t flashy, but they work. The good news is that everyone can develop and strengthen them.

Writing with Consistency and Courage is designed for writers at any level who are looking to begin a new project, resume an old one, overcome obstacles in a work-in-progress, or surprise themselves with a forward leap.

In this workshop, we’ll explore why and how consistency and courage count for more than talent or craft when it comes to starting, finishing, and polishing drafts. You will be guided to examine what courage and consistency mean for your writing and learn practical tools for getting to and staying at the page, overcoming resistance, and tapping into and trusting your creative intuition. You’ll set achievable goals for making incremental progress and identify ways of meeting those goals.

Finally, you’ll compose new work in response to prompts, generating momentum to carry you into your next writing session. We won’t share what we write, but we’ll gather in a spirit of curiosity and generosity to support our own and each other’s writing. There will be plenty of time for questions.

In this 3-hour workshop, you will:

  • EXPLORE and define what courage and consistency mean for your writing
  • DEVISE strategies for writing more boldly and regularly
  • LEARN and EXPERIMENT with techniques for overcoming resistance to writing
  • PRACTICE bravery and trust your creative intuition while crafting new work

This workshop is for:

  • writers of all genres
  • writers who want to establish or recommit to a regular writing habit
  • writers who resist diving deeply into raw or difficult material
  • writers who could use an inspiring nudge to begin or finish the work they dream of completing
